Aside from traditional phone (PBX) systems being very expensive to implement, usually $10,000 after setup and hardware costs, they are also very limited in functionality. They must be maintained by a knowledgeable PBX professional whom you also must pay if you wish to have any changes made to the system. Outside of very basic features such as call transferring, call forwarding and conferencing, most PBX systems do not allow advanced functionality such as voicemail-to-email or call recording.
